x scholars today. Objects such as these form part of the extensive and distinctive iconographic imagery of Predynastic Egypt, and are often interpreted solely in the context of their symbolic or iconographic significance. The aim of this study is to examine these anthropomorphic objects in terms of
their original context in order to determine what role they played in Predynastic burials - a useful method, as most of these objects are found in graves. A database comprising all provenanced anthropomorphic Predynastic objects and their placement in the grave, in addition to the details of each gr
ave, has been composed in order to conduct a detailed analysis. The analysis is geared to answer the question of whether it is possible to determine the function of these objects from the available data, and if so, what the results could tell us about burial practices and rituals in Predynastic Egyp
t. It became clear from the results that the context, especially the specific placement of the object in the grave, can reflect significantly the meaning and function of anthropomorphic objects. The placement and function seems to have depended on the type of object: for instance, figurines had diff
erent placements and meanings to tusks and tags. Ultimately, it appears that anthropomorphic objects, especially figurines, were personal items with which the deceased were identified and buried by their relations and friends. They may have served as magical or protective items, or as representation
s of ancestors or the deceased individuals themselves. 在資訊複雜與多元環境的現代，人與人的溝通與互動方式不斷的在改變，隨著數位技術的日新月異，以行動電話及網頁做為傳輸訊息的管道成為一種趨勢，而利用圖像介面傳達功能意義是一種常見的模式。然而設計不良的圖像會讓使用者在操作時產生困惑甚至有挫折感，所以如何將訊息準確、迅速的傳達給使用者，應將使用者的心理認知與觀點列入考慮。一個優良的圖像是必須讓人容易辨識與理解，並非單方面由設計師認知所發展，因此圖像設計意涵與使用者認知共識的確立相形重要。 本研究以《數位時代》雜誌2010年「台灣百大網站排行榜」調查前十名最熱門網站的功能圖像，及手機社群網站「手機王」2010年最新研究報告「最多人討論的手
機品牌」排行前五名之行動電話功能圖像作為研究樣本，旨在探討應用於螢幕介面之圖像，在不輔以文字說明的狀況下，何種圖像設計方式能讓使用者很容易理解訊息的涵義，以及瞭解受測者不同的背景對圖像認知的差異與觀感。首先將研究樣本以KJ法進行屬性分群，將相似的功能圖像歸類，再藉由文獻探討分析與整理，建立圖像形態分析規則，然後對各圖像進行形態分析，並透過問卷對研究樣本進行混淆性與聯想性認同度調查，將所得數據對應圖像形態使用相關分析、卡方檢定等統計方法檢驗，及歸納圖像優劣之設計形式與受測者不同背景對圖像認知差異之影響。研究結果發現：1. 辨識率高的圖像以具體呈現方式訊息傳達成效最佳，它們是利用日常生活經驗或記憶
中最具代表、象徵性的關聯圖形作為設計主軸，顯而易見的，這些圖像不容易與其他圖像混淆，在準確的判斷圖像意涵上能得到高度的迴響。2. 意涵的轉換不論是在辨識率或聯想性，以明喻的方式獲得評價最高，其原因是在圖元取向上容易與生活中的事物產生對應，聯想性佳；暗喻與轉喻的意涵轉換，整體來說，視認性較差無法達到有效的訊息傳達。3. 圖像元素組成以精簡明快的單一主體呈現，辨識率較高，而輔助元素、關聯元素的有無，對圖像意涵傳達的正確性影響性低。4. 受測者背景對圖像認知的差異：以年齡因素對圖像的認知差異最為顯著，其結果顯示，中高年齡層對圖像的辨識力、聯想性認同度較低；其次是教育程度因素對圖像的認知差異，其結果顯

本研究運用行動研究法，從觀察與省思的角度出發，記錄創作者個人針對多義圖形研究及探討其設計方法的整個歷程。首先，分別從觀者分析與創作者設計創作的觀點，探討多義圖形可能的設計方法。前者，透過分析大量多義圖形，得到五種多義圖形類型：一、同形異象。二、圖地反轉。三、平面的視覺焦點轉移。四、平面與立體空間的錯覺。五、平面或立體拼湊式。後者，從媒材探索和設計元素「線、面、點」論述其與多義圖形之間可能的連結，以及多義圖形可能的設計方法；結果發現，當媒材的變化性較高時，就愈可能成就「多義」的圖像；透過察覺與省思個人與所繪線條之間的互動關係，發現所繪線條在紙上界定出來的空間，時而具象，時而抽象，創作者個人在繪
畫線條時也不斷地因應這個時而抽象、時而具象的特質做出反應，此特質可能是圖形之所以「多義」的原因之一；而「面」、「點」與「線」之間多樣的互動關係，也使圖形「多義」的可能性增加。關於多義圖形的設計歷程，本研究分為二類：一是透過實作與觀察來取得多義圖像或多義圖形的設計靈感，二是先構思想像可能的多義表現方式，再透過實際操作來檢視構思的可行性，若有必要再做進一步的修正。本研究發現：構思多義圖形時的思維脈絡，與多義圖形的視覺呈現結果之間，有著不必然的因果關係，主要的決定因素是中間的實踐過程，如媒材、技法的選擇應用等。在多義圖形構思方向上，本研究整理提出：一、同形異義。二、立基於同義的異象。三、異形結合以創
造新圖像、新意義。四、將時空變數納入考量的多義現象。綜合比對與歸納前述的觀者分析結果與創作者構思創作多義圖形的結果，認為多義圖形的類型應增加同義異象。最後，將結果應用於兒童圖畫書創作中，發現多義圖形對圖畫書創作而言，可以是主導的，其特質足以建構或影響圖畫書主題內容；也可以是依附的，迎合先有的內容主題。可見多義圖形可以用來表現各種不同主題的圖畫書，故多義圖形應用於兒童圖畫書的潛力是無限的。
