1970年代為越南金門會館(孚濟廟) 興建 ,為了保留金門人與故鄉的連結,臺灣政府與駐越大使胡璉將軍鼓勵越南金門同胞於西貢(今胡志明市)成立其同鄉會,同時作為金門人在他鄉的象徵。然而,會館落成不久,華人社會面對了一大事件—排華運動,導致越南華人於 1975年之後生活種種困頓。於是,越南金門人再度往外逃難、尋找生計,金門會館一度停頓,並面臨解散危機,目前在胡志明市僅剩下兩百名左右。直至 1986年越南政府實施社會與經濟改革運動,排華政策從此緩解,越南華僑生活與經濟權利亦復甦,越南金門會館在此階段也找回其地位及功能。本研究主要透過文獻分析、訪談等方法,探討越南金門人的移民史、金門會館成立之淵源、

越南政權對金門族群及其會館所帶來的影響以及會館的社會功能,致力於了解越南金門人及其會館的現狀,並試圖探討造成會館面臨解散危機的因素,從而得知越南金門會館的重要性,及與其他海外金門會館的特殊性所在。
