台灣與中國電影文化用詞之字幕翻譯策略比較:以《瘋狂亞洲富豪》為例

本研究旨在探討台灣與中國喜劇電影《瘋狂亞洲富豪》字幕翻譯策略之差異。首先,作者針對兩種翻譯版本中的文化用詞進行量化分析,包括(1)專有名詞(角色名稱、地理名稱、飲食名稱、書本及物品名稱、文化習俗及語言名稱、協會及品牌名稱、及稱謂),(2)慣用語 (方言、俗語及俚語);接著援用安德烈‧勒菲弗爾(André Lefevere)的操縱理論,針對兩國譯者之翻譯策略傾向及其社會文化背景之關係,進行質化分析。數據結果表明,於專有名詞翻譯中,台灣譯本最常採用的策略為音譯(37.5%)及文化等效(18.8%),然而中國譯本為音譯(42.8%)與直譯(18.8%),因此作者推論兩國譯者於翻譯專有名詞時,偏向保

留獨特異質文化,藉此吸引觀眾目光。另於慣用語翻譯中,台灣與中國譯本皆最常使用文化等效策略,分別佔有61%及48.3%;其次為改寫策略,分別佔有25.4%及22.9%。但與台灣譯者相比,中國譯者較常採用直譯策略,差異高達17.8%。由此差異可發現,於翻譯慣用語中,台灣譯文較中國譯文更具彈性。綜觀所有文化用詞翻譯,台灣譯本傾向採用文化等效及改寫策略,而中國譯本則偏向使用直譯及音譯策略,該現象可歸因於兩國譯者不同的社會文化背景,其中影響涉及歷史、文化、政治、電影審查制度及相關法規。台灣的殖民歷史、多元環境與開放的思想,促使台灣譯者傾於採用目標語導向的翻譯策略;反之,中國一黨專政的體制、及其對電影審查

等的諸多限制,致使中國譯者採取較為忠實的翻譯策略。從上述分析中,可得知國家政府會形塑社會的意識形態及主流詩學,並影響譯者的翻譯決策。雖然本研究僅針對一部喜劇進行分析,文化詞彙的研究樣本數略顯不足,但本研究對於翻譯策略差異與譯者社會文化背景之密切關係已發現顯著精義。
