The Gingerbread Man (also known as The Gingerbread Boy) is a folktale about a gingerbread man's escape from various pursuers and his eventual demise between the jaws of a fox. "The Gingerbread Boy "first appeared in print in the May, 1875, issue of St. Nicholas Magazine in a cumulative tale which, like "The Little Red Hen", depends on repetitious scenes featuring an ever-growing cast of characters for its effect.[1] According to the reteller of the tale, "A girl from Maine told it to my children. It interested them so much that I thought it worth preserving. I asked where she found it and she said an old lady told it to her in her childhood."[2]
1875 story
In the 1875 St. Nicholas tale, a childless old woman bakes a gingerbread man who leaps from her oven and runs away. The woman and her husband give chase but fail to catch him. The Gingerbread man then outruns several farm workers and farm animals while taunting them with the phrase:
I've run away from a little old woman,
A little old man,
And I can run away from you, I can!
The tale ends with a fox catching and eating the gingerbread man who cries as he's devoured, "I'm quarter gone...I'm half gone...I'm three-quarters gone...I'm all gone!"[3]

本研究以迪士尼公主系列動畫電影為主軸，探討公主系列中佔有關鍵位置的男性主角如何在迪士尼巨型文化下被形塑與建構，並藉由梳理其企業發展過程以理解其意識形態核心如何與社會文化調解進而影響公主系列中的權力關係。公主系列存在著既定的敘事模型，以此同一的架構與多元文化並行，創造出屬於迪士尼的神話故事。《睡美人》是古典公主系列中具有典型象徵符號的代表、《美女與野獸》象徵公主系列正式打破傳統框架的拘限、《魔髮奇緣》逐漸讓主客體間的界線劃分變得模糊，而《海洋奇緣》讓主體能夠有所發展，為公主系列真正產生變化的可能。藉由4部動畫電影的轉變與迪士尼在其中所具之位置、立場進行交錯性的理解與探討。公主系列的發展與社會思
潮的變化是相互交織而成的，隨著時代的轉變迪士尼出現擁有不同性格的「公主」與「王子」。公主系列角色的刻畫涉及女性主義的興起與女性的改變。男主角的形塑透過與他者的連結、象徵符號的指稱與打破，進而產生多元的樣貌與主體性。公主系列存在著兩性具有主體性發展的可能，迪士尼從他者式的刻劃到逐漸尊重主體存在的能動性與情感反身性的變化，而至成為互為主體性的刻劃。在陰性經濟中，觀者得以跳脫陽具中心主義的思維邏輯。本文立基於女性主義與男性研究重新審視公主系列中男主角的刻劃與轉變。

嗜中性白血球在免疫系統中扮演一個極為重要的角色，也是防治病原侵襲的第一道防線。在身體的防禦過程中，嗜中性白血球的活化是非常重要且必需的。不同的刺激物，可以經由結合嗜中性白血球的細胞表面受體，或直接刺激細胞內目標分子，來活化嗜中性白血球。在本研究中，我們發現4″a,5″,6″,7″,8″,8″a-hexahydro-5,30,40-trihydroxy-5″,5″,8″atrimethyl-4H-chromeno [2″,3″:7,6]flavone (ugonin U, UgU) 會誘導嗜中性白血球superoxide的產生和釋放。UgU是一個從Helminthostachys zeylan
ica (L) Hook (倒地蜈蚣草)分離的類黃酮 (flavonoid)。本研究的一系列實驗，解析了UgU誘發人類嗜中性白血球的呼吸爆發 (respiratory burst) 的機制。結果顯示，UgU能誘導細胞內Ca2 +緩慢增加，且這樣的Ca2 +增加，是UgU刺激superoxide釋放的必需步驟。實驗中使用formyl peptide receptor (FPR) 阻斷劑、G protein coupled receptor (GPCR) 抑制劑、和protein tyrosine kinase (PTK) 抑制劑，來證明FPR、GPCR、和PTK對UgU誘導的嗜中性白血球呼吸爆發
是不相關的。此外，實驗中的western blotting結果顯示，UgU不影響mitogen-activated protein kinases 和protein tyrosine的磷酸化。然而，phospholipase C (PLC) 抑制劑和inositol triphosphate (IP3) receptor拮抗劑顯著抑制了UgU誘發的Ca 2+增加和隨後的superoxide釋放。UgU也引起細胞內IP3的增加，而這樣的IP3增加，會被PLC抑製劑阻斷。這些研究結果顯示，UgU是目前為止第一個被發現可直接刺激PLC的天然類黃酮化合物。其機轉是經由人類嗜中性白血球中的PLC / I
P3 / Ca2+途徑，來誘發其呼吸爆發。NOD-like receptor pyrin domain 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome (發炎小體)的組成分子中，包含了Nod-like receptors。而Nod-like receptors屬於pattern recognition receptors。這表示NLRP3發炎小體在宿主防禦中具有重要的作用。已知各種結構相差甚大的刺激物，可藉由不同的信號通路來活化NLRP3發炎小體。由於UgU是PLC的刺激劑。實驗發現，UgU會誘導lipopolysaccharide處理後的人類單核球中NLRP3發炎小體的活化，以及caspase
-1 和interleukin (IL)-1β 的活化和釋放。此外，UgU會引發mitochondria reactive oxygen species (ROS)的產生。使用mitochondria ROS抑制劑，可減少UgU所誘導的IL-1β和caspase-1的活化。UgU誘導人類單核球內Ca2 +濃度增加，當加入PLC或IP3受體抑制劑，可抑制這個UgU誘導的細胞內Ca2 +濃度增加。若阻斷UgU誘導的細胞內Ca2 +濃度增加、或阻斷PLC、或阻斷IP3受體，均會減少UgU誘導的IL-1β釋放，caspase-1 激活、IL-1β 的活化並釋放、和mitochondria ROS產生。
這些實驗數據說明了，UgU會刺激細胞內Ca2+濃度增加和mitochondria ROS的產生，進一步活化NLPR3發炎小體。此外，本實驗也證實了UgU 活化的NLRP3發炎小體能增強人類單核細胞的殺菌功能。總而言之，UgU有刺激人類嗜中性白血球和單核細胞（兩者都是專業吞噬細胞）的能力，且有活化NLRP3發炎小體的能力。在發展抗感染藥物的研究中，NLRP3發炎小體是一個可能的分子目標，故而，UgU可成為治療傳染病的新療法。
